Director Alexei Uchitel, after an attempt to set fire to his Lendok studio, distributed an open letter in which he asked the heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB to respond to threats against him and ensure the safety of the audience of his film Matilda, which will be released in October. In the letter, Teacher recalled the threats to set fire to cinemas by Orthodox activists protesting against the release of the film. In letters sent to directors of cinemas, they write that they can “burn down all the cinemas in Russia”, and “5-10 thousand rubles will be enough for each cinema set on fire”.

“These people have already drawn up and announced the budget. Published their plans. But no one is going to stop them. Tonight they set fire to the Lendok film studio, and tomorrow they will go to burn cinemas, where ordinary viewers can suffer, ”said Alexei Uchitel.

The director stressed that his lawyers had repeatedly asked Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev to "check several supposedly Orthodox organizations" from which threats had come, but "there was no reaction."

“I ask Interior Minister Vladimir Alexandrovich Kolokoltsev and FSB Director Alexander Vasilyevich Bortnikov to ensure not only our security.
