The Moscow City Court rejected an appeal to extend the house arrest of oppositionist Galperin

The Moscow City Court dismissed an appeal against the extension of house arrest to Mark Galperin, who is accused of inciting extremist activities. This was reported on August 31 by RAPSI.

Thus, the decision of the Meshchansky District Court that Galperin remains under arrest until October 3 was recognized as legal.

Galperin's lawyer Aleksey Liptser asked the court to change his client's preventive measure to at least a written undertaking not to leave, since the case file lacks evidence that, while at large, Galperin could hide from the investigation and court.

However, according to the investigator, the oppositionist systematically violated law and order, did not comply with the requirements of the police and repeatedly violated the law.

Galperin is charged under Part 2 of Article 280 of the Criminal Code (calls for extremist activity made using the Internet, the maximum sanction is five years in prison) for a video from his interview on Red Square. The case was filed last year.
