A woman can become an opponent of the chief candidate in the election of the President of Russia in 2018 by Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the newspaper Vedomosti with reference to sources in the presidential administration and experts close to it.
According to the sources, five or seven candidates are considered as the alleged “sparring partner”, including three women from the Fair Russia party: the chairman of the Social Democratic Union of women of Russia Natalia the Great, the leader of the National Parental Committee and Member of the Central Council of the Party Irina Petlyeva.
However, according to another interlocutor of the newspaper, the candidacy of a woman who has not been in any party has been agreed so far. Another option for another source called the famous TV presenter Ksenia Sobchak, "demonstrating the image of a modern young woman who would like to go into politics." “Smart, bright, interesting, but not in everything corresponding to the image of a typical Russian woman, the question is - whether she will be resolved,” the words of the source are given by the “Vedomosti”.
The Great told reporters that there was no conversation with her on this subject and, in her opinion, this is unlikely. Petraeva said that there was no official proposal, but she was interested in participating: "There is a social request for women in politics, this will increase interest in predictable elections." According to the source, the question of a woman’s nomination instead of the leader of “Just Russia” Sergei Mironov was already rising, they spoke unofficially with Petlyaeva, but the decision has not yet been made. The newspaper failed to contact the Volynets.
In the past, two women were already presidential candidates. In the elections in 2000, the current chairman of the Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova gained 1.01% of the vote, and in 2004 Irina Khakamada, representing the "Union of Right Forces", received 3.84%.
Recall that Vladimir Putin has not yet officially announced that he would participate in the presidential election in 2018. However, the media write that work in the AP on the formation of its election concept has long been going on.
In July, Vedomosti reported that the Kremlin has not yet been able to find the image of the future, which is expected to become the basis of Putin's election campaign. The article said that several curators in the development of a concept were replaced. The deadlines for the completion of the work are not defined.
According to one source close to the AP, the image of the future should be ready by the end of September. According to another, the concept must be prepared for the beginning of the campaign in December. In April, Vedomosti wrote that one of the key topics of the presidential campaign may be the image of the future of Russia.
