On August 24, a 19-year-old citizen of Ukraine Pavel Griba went to the Belorussian Regional Center Gomel to meet a girl with whom he met on social networks. She reported that she would come to a meeting from Russia. Pavel planned to return to Ukraine on the same day, but disappeared.
“He calmly crossed the Ukrainian and Belarusian borders, drove into Gomel. And now in Gomel his trace disappeared, and until today we don’t know where he is,” Olga Grib, sister Paul told the Belsat Belsat.
The very next day, the father of Pavel Igor Grib, the father of Paul, went to Belarus. In the Gomel police, the former Ukrainian border guard, who is now engaged in the creation of the Capellaan service in the Ukrainian army, learned that Paul was put on a Russian wanted list on charges of terrorism, and the FSB of the Russian Federation in the Krasnodar Territory, the city of Sochi, was conducting the case.
Through social networks, Ukrainian journalists found the girl with whom Paul met in Gomel. In an interview with TSN, a 17-year-old resident of Sochi admitted that she really invited the guy to Belarus and stated that she was forced to do this by the FSB of Russia. Now she is allegedly also under investigation, under the same article as Pavel - terrorist activity.
Pavel Mushroom met the "revolution of dignity" with the hope of changes in the country. And after the military aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, he actively wrote on social networks, often did not select expressions regarding the enemies of the Fatherland. Perhaps this became the basis for the provocative actions of the FSB of the Russian Federation, ”says Igor Grib.

“If he was detained by the FSB in Belarus, this is illegal. If there is a criminal case, he is put on an international wanted list, and through the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office, they apply to the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Belarus about extradition. He has the right to appeal this decision, and he has the right to defense,” said Belarusian human rights activist Oleg Volchek .
The "Mushroom case" quickly grew into a diplomatic scandal. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Elena Mirror said that Belarus only in words behaves as a partner, but actually acts completely differently. The mirror also proposed to consider economic issues in combination with the safety issues of Ukrainians in Belarus.
In response to this, on August 31, Valery Dzhigun , adviser to the Belorussian, was called to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, which was pointed out to the "unpromising threats and unacceptability of the statements" that came in the statement of the mirror.
The Foreign Ministry of Belarus noted that from August 29, at the request of the Embassy of Ukraine, the law enforcement agencies of this country - the Prosecutor General, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the SK, the KGB and the border committee - the search for Ukrainian citizen Pavel Grib through the entire territory, and the information is generalized and prepared for transferring the Ukrainian side.
“People, unfortunately, disappear for a variety of reasons: both of their own free will or stupidity, and as a result of malicious actions of the third forces,” said Dmitry Mironchik, spokesman for Belarusian Foreign Affairs. “If his parents and authorities of his own country have not been observed for a 19-year-old young man, then this is not yet a reason to bring down from the sore head to a healthy one. It is definitely not partner after the official one after the official one after the official. Requests for help to blame the country that, without its knowledge, was chosen by the place of either a romantic date or a conspiratorial meeting. "
In the Belarusian independent media and social networks, the fungus was perceived by many as the next evidence of the non -independence of the Belarusian leadership, evidence of the dominance of Russian special services in the country. Just against the backdrop of the scandal, the Belarusian media published the words of the former deputy chairman of the Ukrainian Security Service (March 2014 - June 2015) Viktor Yaguna, who stated that the group of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation has been working on an ongoing basis.
“We have information that in Belarus there is a FSB group of 30 to 40 people who work on an ongoing basis in Minsk, including a power group there. If you need to hold detention, they, as a rule, do not inform the Belarusian colleagues and conduct these events themselves,” Viktor Yagun, Radio Liberty, said .
In addition to Belarus, the FSB shows greater activity in the Crimea, where one by one under strange circumstances and with a demonstration of ridiculous evidence - for example, hacksaws for "firing the power lines" - delay "Ukrainian saboteurs"
However, political scientists and analysts are in no hurry to draw conclusions about the complete dependence of the Belarusian power structures on Russia. "Despite the" allied "status of the two states, Belarus regularly became the object of information attacks of varying degrees of success. The last two to three months in the number of information stuffing, it can be argued that work is underway to prevent the development of Belarusian-Ukrainian cooperation," the Belarusian analyst Igor Tyshkevich, living in Ukraine, believes.
What are the consequences for the Belarusian-Ukrainian relations can cause a “mushroom case” and can it be argued that the Russian special services really have carte blanche in Belarus for any actions? These questions are answered by a political scientist, manager of the Belrus Security Blog project Andrey Porotnikov :
- We must return to the background and note that there is a practice of abduction by the special services of the CIS countries of their citizens in other countries. We can recall when the Uzbek special services stole the Uzbek opposition in Moscow, the Turkmens acted in the same way. In 2013, the Belarusian KGB tried to detain one of the managers of the Belarusian potassium company in Moscow - without paperwork for issuance. But now for the first time a situation has occurred when the special services of one country detain a citizen of a third country in another country. And of course, this caused a serious crisis in Belarusian-Ukrainian relations.
- How can one evaluate the version that this was specially done by the Russian special services to quarrel Belarus and Ukraine?
- The situation is very strange. As far as I read, this young man suggested that there could be troubles in Belarus, but for some reason went purposefully to these troubles. Therefore, the factor in the game of special services on the complication of Belarusian-Ukrainian relations prevails, but we must understand that in Ukraine there are also circles unfriendly in relation to Belarus. Therefore, I would not deny the version that this could be a provocation on both sides.

- The press sounded information about 30 Employees of the FSB of Russia working on an ongoing basis in Belarus. Is it worth it to perceive this as a sensation, given what strong ties (in accordance with all agreements) exist between Belarusian and Russian security forces?
- This is not a sensation. I know that over 20 people, FSB officers, are in Minsk under a diplomatic cover. They are guided by a person in the rank of Major General. They are not hidden, since they have the official goal of the mission - to ensure the security of the embassy, diplomats and special communications. But that they were involved in some kind of power actions in Belarus, such information has never sounded before.
- Do you think they are limited to this narrow task of ensuring the security of the embassy?
- I would like to operate with facts. There are very few facts, and one of them is this: there is much more special equipment to the territory of the embassy than it is necessary to ensure a secure connection.
