Television of North Korea announced a successful test of a hydrogen bomb at an underground nuclear training ground. Previously, seismologists reported underground shocks with magnitude to 6.3: in Seoul they were connected with a nuclear test, the power of which is at least an order of magnitude exceeds all previous tests. The current explosion has become the sixth in a row. Earlier on Sunday, the DPRK head Kim Jong -un was reported to the creation of a hydrogen bomb, which could be installed as a warhead on a new ballistic missile.
The announcement of the North Korean TV emphasizes that the test was carried out by personal order of Kim Jong -un and that it became a “serious step” on the way to the country's nuclear program.
"The test was carried out in order to study and confirm the accuracy and reliability of the technology for adjusting the power, as well as the methods of designing internal elements that were invented and first tested in the production of hydrogen charges intended for installation on intercontinental ballistic missiles," RIA Novosti quotes the statement.
- Foreign Ministry called the DPRK test a serious regional threat
On the territory of the DPRK on Sunday, an earthquake of magnitude from 5.6 to 6.3 was recorded. In South Korea, it was reported that the tremors occurred in the area of Phungeri, where the nuclear training ground was located, at about 6:36 in Moscow. The depth was 0 km, which allowed us to assume the technogenic nature of the earthquake.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe urgently called the National Security Council, during which the Japanese authorities on the basis of the information received came to the conclusion that North Korea really had the next, the sixth nuclear test, TASS reports.
Professor of the National University in Seoul Kun Sukh in a conversation with Reuters assessed the power of the new test as the superior previous by 10-20 times.
Earlier, the DPRK announced the creation of a hydrogen bomb with a huge destructive force. The state news agency emphasized that the bomb can be used as a warhead for a new intercontinental ballistic missile.
In a hydrogen bomb, the explosion is obtained with a nuclear synthesis of light elements in more severe - for example, the synthesis of one nucleus of helium atom from two cores of the deater atoms. The addition of uranium-238 isotopes to the charge increases the power of the explosion and increases the radioactive infection area.
The DPRK on August 29 conducted the next launch of the Swason-12 medium-range ballistic missile, which flew over the territory of Japan and fell into the Pacific Ocean 1180 km east of Cape Erimo. According to experts, the rocket overcame a distance of about 2.7 thousand kilometers, the flight lasted 14 minutes.
The missile test caused a violent reaction from the neighbors of the DPRK, as well as Western countries. In particular, Japan and the United States agreed to develop a new resolution in the UN Security Council, which provides for the strengthening of sanctions against North Korea. According to media reports, it may be a ban on oil supply to the DPRK.
