The actor of the film “Matilda” published “a letter from Serebrennikov.” The director's lawyer called it a provocation, UPD

German actor Lars Eidinger, who plays the role of Nicholas II in Alexei Uchitel’s film “Matilda,” published a letter on his Instagram account, allegedly written by director Kirill Serebrennikov. Serebrennikov's lawyer denied his authorship.

Eidinger clarified that he received a letter from Serebrennikov during his last visit to Germany. The director allegedly asked to publish the text of the letter in the event of his arrest.

It follows from the letter that Serebrennikov allegedly refused the proposal of the President of Ukraine to make a propaganda film at the expense of budget funds. The author of the letter also calls not to succumb to the provocations of “some political scammers” who are trying to “cash in on any story that can be turned against the authorities.”

Serebrennikov's lawyer Dmitry Kharitonov said that the director did not write any letter to Aidinger. “We perceive this as a provocation,” he said before the start of the hearing at the Morsk City Court.

UPD. Actor Lars Eidinger deleted a post from Instagram that talked about Serebrennikov’s letter.
