Russian universities did not fall into the top 100 best universities in the world according to Times Higher Education

The British agency Times Higher Education (The) published an annual rating of thousands of the best universities in the world from 77 countries. In the first hundred there was not a single Russian educational institution. Nevertheless, 18 domestic universities are present in the ranking.

The fourth place among Russian universities was taken by the Higher School of Economics (351-400). In the interval between the 401st and 500th places are Kazan Federal University, the National Research Nuclear University of MEPhI (Moscow), the Novosibirsk State University and St. Petersburg State University.

In June, The Thes published a new rating of universities in Europe. The top three of the best Russian higher educational institutions in the ranking included Moscow State University, MIPT and St. Petersburg ITMO. In total, Russia was represented in the European top 24 universities.

Previously, TNTE announced plans to create a new rating - European Teaching Excellence Ranking, whose debut was scheduled for 2018. It is expected that in this rating more attention will be paid to assessing the quality of the educational process at the university and its influence on the success of graduates in the future - a factor that currently does not find sufficient reflection in the rating methodology.
