Another victory in Syria

IG* does not disappear, but turns into an international terrorist organization, the partisans of which are operating all over the world

The Syrian government forces (Syrian Arab Army-SAA) are advancing along the deserted northeast of the country, through the territory of the controlled IG* ("Islamic state" prohibited in the Russian Federation) towards Deir ez-Zor-the capital of the same name on the border with Iraq. The RAA and its allies are paved with Russian VKS, who, according to the Ministry of Defense, lament the “IG terrorists” with continuous bombing strokes - “the newly routely destroy the newly identified goals: trucks and armored vehicles, warehouses with ammunition, fire positions and manpower”.

Deir ez-zor is in the siege for more than three years. Part of the city quarters under the control of the IG, some are holding the SAA garrison. Russian military leaders claim that the “defeat of the IG” and the release of the city “will become a strategic defeat of international terrorists in Syria”.

IG is now retreating on all fronts. An attempt to create a state based on the literal execution of the ancient laws of Sharia ended in failure.

In 2014, IS scared the Middle East and the whole world, when its detachments crossed the Syrian-Iraqi border, took Mosul from the scum and went on, rapidly occupying the northwestern provinces of Iraq. The Iraqi army scattered, throwing weapons, IS militants enchanted or expelled the "infidels" and "heretics" (Arabs-Shiits) and, it seemed, was about to take Baghdad. The future of the IG was formed during the Syrian Civil War as a branch of al-Qaeda, but many in his leadership were Iraqis-Sunnis, including the self-proclaimed “caliph” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi originally from Samarra. It was in Mosul, and not in Syrian Rakka, Al-Baghdadi proclaimed himself a caliph of the revived caliphate under the name Ibrahim.

In the North-Western Iraq, taking control of millions of local population, IS really tried to become a functioning state and it was there that the main defeat suffered. The revived Iraqi army, with the support of the Shiite and Kurdish militias, as well as the US International Coalition formed by the United States, stopped the attack of IG, and then, in a long and bloody struggle, conquered the lost provinces and cities: El Falluja, Er-Ramadi, Tikrit, Samarra, etc. This summer fell Mosul.

In Moscow, a long time had mocked how long and with what losses there was an assault, and claimed that the Iraqi army reorganized by the Americans was completely co -considerable. But the hopes that Mosul would become a grave for the pro -American coalition did not materialize. IG in Iraq is actually defeated. At the same time, for the most part, the Kurdish detachments of the “democratic forces of Syria” with American support are fighting in Syrian Racke - the official capital of IG.

Under these conditions, the Russian military finally took up the IS to be seriously in order to at least be in capacity and help Damascus take control of Deir Ez-Zor, and at the same time announce victory.

• The first time President Putin announced the victory in Syria on March 14, 2016: “The task set for the Ministry of Defense and the Sun was generally fulfilled, so I order the withdrawal of the main part of our military group from Syria.” But as a result, by the end of the year, the group only grew at the expense of advisers, military police, special forces and contractors from the Wagner PMC.

• The next fateful victory in the Syrian campaign occurred in Aleppo at the end of 2016, when, by agreement, the opposition forces, headed by the militants of the AN-Nusra front, went out of the eastern quarters (an organization banned in the Russian Federation). After Aleppo, a number of clearly marked zones were formed on the territory of Syria, some of which are called “de -escalation zones”, and in May a partial truce is maintained in May.

The IS Zone was bored, but the assault on Rakki and the campaign on Deir ez-zor will not destroy the IS: from quasi-state, IS is turning into an international combat terrorist organization that will continue the sabotage and partisan struggle in Syria and around the world in fulfillment of prophecies about the revived caliphate. Followers consider al-Baghdadi the 8th of the 12 promised righteous caliphs. Following the 9th caliph.

Iraq is split into Kurds, Shiites and Sunnis, but they all were able to unite at least for a while. The Iraq state budget is filled with petrodollars, and the army managed to prove that it was able to fight and defeat fanatics, even carrying significant losses. In ruined and destroyed Syria, an endless war was tired of everyone completely, and Assad rests on foreign bayonets and money. Tens of thousands of sorties and bombing carried out a VKS in two years. Tehran pays Assad accounts, but there is no money for the restoration of destroyed infrastructure and the economy. For two years, the campaign Moscow delivered to Syria up to two million tons of various military and civilian cargo, weapons and equipment - everything is free, and this is not visible.

You can at least every six months declare another victory in Syria, but without a massive, hundred or two billions of dollars of the program of economic and infrastructure restoration of any truce and de-escalation will be temporary.

But so far in the power of Assad, neither the West, nor the rich Arabs, except for humanitarian aid, will give anything.

In May, speaking at the Council of People's Commissars, the Minister of Shoigu boasted that in Syria "a group of Russian aircraft was created on the southern flank of NATO, which radically changed the strategic balance of power in the region." And he added that our military gained unique combat experience, that they held the government in Damascus and experienced a lot of new weapons. If such is the main strategic goal, then so far there is NATO, you can endlessly fight in Syria, suffering losses and losses.
