The Chinese company Huawei has taken second place among the largest smartphone manufacturers, pushing Apple to third place. CNews writes about this with reference to a study by the analytical company Counterpoint.
It is reported that analysts came to this conclusion based on data on smartphone sales in June and July of this year, as well as preliminary information on device sales in August. At the same time, the first place in the ranking is still occupied by the South Korean company Samsung.
According to Counterpoint Analytics Director Peter Richardson, Huawei has achieved success in the global market in recent years through investments in research and development and production units, aggressive marketing and expansion of sales channels. At the same time, Richardson noted that the weakening of Apple’s position may be temporary, and the company will again be ahead of Huawei after the new iPhones enter the market. In addition, he pointed out Huawei's excessive dependence on the Chinese market.
Counterpoint's research also lists the best-selling smartphones, led by the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. The third and fourth places in this list are occupied by the Chinese devices OPPO R11 and OPPO A57. The top ten also includes Samsung Galaxy S8, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X, Samsung Galaxy S8+, iPhone 6, Samsung Galaxy J7 and Samsung Galaxy A5 2017.
Analysts draw attention to the fact that there is not a single Huawei model in this rating. The company believes this is due to the fact that Huawei’s lineup lacks a “real hero gadget.”
