The coordinator of the Left Front, Sergei Udaltsov, during interrogation in the TFR, refused to testify in the swamp business. This is reported by Interfax.
"Indeed, the investigation was interested in issues on 2012 events. They asked if I had new information about the actions of the opposition at that time, about the actions of some specific opposition leaders," Udaltsov said.
"I refused to testify on the basis of Article 51 of the Constitution (the right to not testify against myself). I consider the fact of a call to the very element of pressure," Udaltsov said. According to him, the coordinator of the Left Front told the investigator that "all testimonies were given during the investigation at that time during the trial of 2014, and there is nothing to add."
“If the authorities were hoping to receive testimonies from other oppositionists and to steal us with each other - it is pointless, it is unacceptable for me. And if the task was to put pressure on me and show that close observation continues to me, it doesn’t surprise me either, I have nothing to hide, I continue my activities openly and calmly,” Udaltsov said.
In the Investigative Committee, they confirmed that the interrogation of Udaltsov was carried out as part of a swamp business. “The decision on his interrogation was made after a press conference, at which Udaltsov made a number of statements regarding protest shares, and also evaluated the actions of persons related to these events. He was questioned about persons involved in the organization of riots in Moscow in Bolotnaya Square in 2012,” the press service of the Investigative Committee said .
In 2014, Udaltsov was sentenced to four and a half years of the general regime on charges of organizing "mass riots" in Bolotnaya Square during the May Millions of the 2012 Major and in the preparation of further "riots". The politician was sent to the IK-3 of the Tambov region in the village of Zelenye District District. There, on the far -fetched reasons, penalties were imposed; In protest, the politician held hunger strikes.
On August 8 of this year, Udaltsov was released, completely serving his term .
On August 19, Udaltsov announced his intention to hold a restorative congress of the Left Front before the end of the year , which, while the politician was in custody, was actually inactive.
