The UN announced a reduction in the number of beggars in the world

The First Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Amin Mohammed said that, according to the latest data, now the number of people living in the extreme poverty is 11% of the world's population. This is 767 million people, reports TASS .

According to Mohammed, Africa remains the most dysfunctional from the point of view of the living standards of the planet, where 42% of the inhabitants are behind the poverty line. East and South Asia, where before that there was also a large percentage of living in extreme poverty, has recently reached “significant progress” in the fight against poverty.

Recall that in Russia at the moment, 29% of the population consider their financial situation “bad or very bad” (data based on the results of the second quarter of 2017). This is an indicator at the level of 2012, experts said by the study of the Institute of Social Analysis and the forecasting of the RANEPA.

Compared to previous years, progress has been outlined: in 2016 and 2015, 33% of Russians considered themselves poor. The best is considered to be the indicator reached in 2014 (24%).

Rosstat last year recorded an increase in the number of poor residents of the Russian Federation by 300 thousand people.
