The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that 11 police officers were injured when the former governor of the Odessa region, Mikheil Saakashvili, surrounded by supporters, broke through the Ukrainian border.
The Interior Ministry's report says, in particular, that Saakashvili's supporters knocked the policemen to the ground. The victims were diagnosed with closed head and chest injuries. None of the officers required hospitalization.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that it was conducting an audit, following which "a legal assessment will be given to the actions of each of the participants in the event."
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko vowed to prosecute "those who organized illegal border crossings, led such actions or assisted them with advice or actions."
“Fighting for power, Saakashvili's supporters are destroying the state. Whoever disagrees, try to break through the Georgian or British border, ”Lutsenko wrote on his Facebook.
