On September 9, Hurricane Irma reached Cuba. He did not approach Havana closer than 200 kilometers, but in the capital a strong wind blew all day and there was a downpour, which is why some areas were flooded.
Havana’s airport was closed, and the Aeroflot flight from Moscow to Havana and back to September 10 was canceled. In a number of areas of the city, interruptions with the supply of electricity and telephone connection are observed.
The provinces of Kamagai and Syeo de Aville were most affected, where the hurricane pulled out trees and demolished the roofs. According to preliminary data, no one died.
The threat of a hurricane forced the authorities of Florida to carry out one of the largest state evacuation operations in the recent history of the state: more than 72 thousand residents of Florida are placed in 390 temporary shelters. About 6.3 million people are subject to mandatory evacuation.
