The Investigative Committee opened a case after ballot stuffing at one of the polling stations in Saransk

The Investigative Committee for the Republic of Mordovia opened a case after reports of falsification of election documents (Part 1 of Article 142 of the Criminal Code) at one of the polling stations in Saransk, according to the department’s website.

According to investigators, on the single voting day, September 10, “unidentified persons” marked the ballot papers for the election of the head of the Republic of Mordovia. After this, the documents were handed over to people who threw the sheets into the ballot boxes.

In total, investigators seized 68 stamped ballots.

Now the Investigative Committee is establishing the circumstances of the incident and checking the members of the election commission who may be involved in the stuffing.

“Rosbalt,” with reference to the press service of the Mordovian regional committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, writes that the stuffing occurred at polling station No. 527. There, the secretary of the Mordovian republican committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, deputy of the State Assembly of the republic Valentina Zaitseva and her assistant Vadim Piksaykin “infiltrated a company of “carousel workers” of 30 people.” They gave them ballots marked for the candidate from United Russia. After members of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation turned to the police, they found another 68 ballots.

Earlier it was reported that the republican Central Election Commission could cancel the voting results at another polling station No. 527 in the Leninsky district of Saransk, where 79 ballots were found that were attempted to be thrown into the ballot box.
