The International Union of Skatytsy (ISU) plans radical changes in figure skating, aimed at achieving the best balance between artistry and technology. This was reported by the Iceenetwork portal with reference to the head of the committee on single and paired skiing Fabio Bianchechetti.
According to the official, the reforms will help to return this sport to the former popularity that has recently been declining.
In particular, from the 2018/19 season, it is planned to significantly reduce the basic cost of quadruple jumps in men's skating and quadruple emissions in the steam room, as well as partially reduce the price of triple jumps and emissions. Such changes in the rules are associated with improving the skaters of skaters.
From the 2022 Olympics, ISU also plans to replace a short and arbitrary program with artistic and technical. At the same time, medals will be handed for each program separately and for the sum of two rental.
