Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov, sentenced to 20 years in prison, was transferred from the Irkutsk SIZO-1 to Chelyabinsk. This was reported by Interfax with reference to the Public Monitoring Commission (POC) of the Irkutsk region.
The reasons for Sentsov's transfer to another colony are still unknown.
On September 11 , it was reported that the director was being transferred from the Irkutsk pre-trial detention center, but there was no information about where he was being taken.
On September 9, human rights activists learned that Sentsov was transferred to SIZO-1 of Irkutsk from IK-1 of Yakutsk, where he was serving his sentence.
In August 2015, the court announced the verdict against Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov and anti-fascist Oleksandr Kolchenko in the so-called “case of Crimean terrorists”. They were sentenced respectively to 20 and 10 years in a strict regime colony for setting fire to the door of the United Russia office in Crimea, as well as for allegedly preparing for terrorist acts and illegal trafficking in explosives.
In October 2016 and February 2017, the Russian authorities refused to extradite Oleg Sentsov and Alexander Kolchenko to Ukraine.
