Rosneft moved an iceberg over 1 million tons

Rosneft during an expedition to the Arctic towed an iceberg weighing over 1 million tons. It is reported by RBC.

According to Rosneft Vice President Andrei Shishkin, this is the most difficult iceberg of those whose trajectory managed to influence the history of Russia. The weight of the iceberg, which caused the disaster with the Titanic, was 75 thousand tons, he added. Shishkin noted that the company tested "unique technology for changing the trajectory of drift icebergs."

The iceberg expedition began on September 10, it will last 40 days, said Rosneft specialist.

In 2016, the company organized another scientific expedition to the Arctic, during which it planned to test the technology to change the Iceberg drift trajectory through external influence. It was reported that in total it is planned to conduct 12 experiments, including the development of the Iceberg-Platform script-the iceberg movement to a conditional drilling rig.

In February 2015, the head of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation, Alexander Novak, said that Rosneft investments in the Arctic in the next 20–25 years can amount to $ 500 billion on the creation of an integrated ice environment in the Arctic, which will help ensure the safety of geological exploration on the northern seas, Rosneft declared back in 2014.
