The exhibition “Alexander Labas will be held in Moscow. October"

On October 1, the Institute of Russian Realistic Art (Irry) in Moscow will open an exhibition of the cycle of graphic and picturesque work of Alexander Labas “October”, dedicated to the 1917 revolution.

The October series occupies a special place not only in the work of Alexander Labas, but in general in the history of Soviet art on this subject, the organizers of the exhibition note. The works of this series always participate in large Russian and foreign exhibitions on the theme of the 1920s-1930s.

“Sailor”, “At the walls of the Kremlin”, “Night in October”, “Morning after the battle” and other works from the collections of the Tretyakov Gallery, the Russian Museum, the Pushkin Museum and the Labas Foundation will be represented in Irry until December 10.

To participate in the exhibition, the Foundation of the Kostroma Museum for the first time will leave the famous picture of Labas "Self -portrait against the background of the painting" October 1928 "."

“In total, about 50 graphic and picturesque work will be presented at the exhibition. This is one of those few exhibitions that we were offered to hold-the idea belonged to Olga Beskina-Labas-the niece of the artist and the head of the Labas Foundation. This proposal came on time, since this year the whole world cannot pass by the topic of the centenary of the revolution, ”says Nadezhda Stepanova, art director of the museum.

The exposition will also include archival photographs of 1917-1923 from the collection of Multimedia Art Museum, Moscow. In addition, documentary materials, including the personal file of Alexander Labas from the State Military Archive, will be presented for the first time.
