In July 2017, the family of the former director of the Federal Security Service, Evgeny Murov, received a stake in the Phoenix company, the operator of the St. Petersburg port of Bronka, writes Republic , citing data from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities.
The publication reports that Phoenix was previously equally owned by businessman Dmitry Mikhalchenko, who is under arrest awaiting trial in a case of alcohol smuggling, and retired FSB Major General Nikolai Negodov, who served as deputy in 1997–1998 with Murov. Head of the FSB department for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region.
Now the companies Mikhalchenko, Negodov and the Investcapital company, owned by Lyudmila Murova, have three equal shares. The general director of this company is Nikita Murov. According to Novaya Gazeta, Lyudmila Murova is the wife of the ex-head of the FSO, and Nikita is his grandson. The publication notes that the change in ownership occurred a month after President Vladimir Putin spoke at the port.
Republic's source believes that in reality Mikhalchenko owns about 15% of the port operator, and the distribution of shares by third "more reflects the real interests of the beneficiaries."
Mikhalchenko or his subordinates were also mentioned in connection with criminal cases of theft in the Ministry of Culture and during the construction of the presidential residence in Novo-Ogarevo.
Mediazona wrote that FSO director Murov was considered the guarantor of Mikhalchenko’s business, and how the conflict around the Bronka port led to the resignations of several high-ranking security officials.
