In Zaryadye Park, after two full days of work, 10,000 plants were destroyed. This was reported to Komsomolskaya Pravda by Igor Safiullin, head of the department for landscape gardening and environmental work of the park.
“Unfortunately, visitors have trampled plants and lawns, especially in the area of the northern landscape. Almost 30 percent of the green cover has been destroyed there. But you can rest on the grass not everywhere, but only in special places,” said Safiullin.
Park visitors also began to dig up the plants, hide them in bags, and leave. Among the plants was marsh marigold, listed in the Red Book of Moscow.
An employee of the park explained that the guards could not interfere with visitors due to the large flow. Zaryadye plans to purchase 10,000 new plants and ban visitors from walking on the lawns. “In addition, the speakerphone constantly asks visitors not to destroy the park,” the newspaper writes.
