
The EU Council until March 15, 2018 extended sanctions against 149 individuals and 38 legal entities involved in violation of the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine. This was reported in a press release from the Council.
The document notes that the assessment of the current situation "does not give grounds for changing the regime of sanctions." Four dead from the moment of the last extension are excluded from the sanctions list.
On September 6, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU countries (Coreper) once again recommended the EU Council to extend address sanctions for six months in connection with the situation in Ukraine. It was noted that the new Russian ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov will remain on the sanctions list, since not a single country asked him to exclude it. Antonov does not appear in the US black list.
On August 4, the EU Council in connection with the supply of Siemens turbines to the annexed Crimea expanded the sanctions list list . The restrictions were introduced against the Deputy Minister of Energy of Andrei Cherezov, the head of the Department of Operational Management and Control in the Electric power industry of the Ministry Evgenia Grabchak and the director of Technopromexport LLC, the subsidiary of Rostec, which was directly involved in the purchase and transportation of turbines, Sergei Topora Gilka. The EU Council believes that Cherezov and Grabchak supervised energy projects in Crimea.
Among the legal entities, the sanctions fell OJSC "Technopromesport" and the LLC of the same name. The first company bought turbines from Siemens, and the second was engaged in transporting them to Crimea and currently owns the units. The sanctions were also imposed against “intrautomatics” - a joint German -Russian enterprise, more than 45 percent of the shares of which belonged to Siemens before the scandal with turbines.
For the first time, personal sanctions were imposed by the European Union in relation to individuals and legal entities involved in the violation of the sovereignty of Ukraine, on March 17, 2014, the day after the “referendum” in Crimea. Inclusion in the sanctions list entails freezing accounts in banks in the EU countries and a ban on entry into the European Union.
After the start of hostilities in the east of Ukraine , the sanctions list has repeatedly expanded .
