“The antics of the officials of the Moscow mayor’s office are shameless and disgusting. Vice-mayor Pechatnikov went so far as to actually thank the bandits who cut off the sign with a saw. Another nameless “representative of the administration” made mocking, insulting proposals to “place a memorial plaque inside the entrance.” Well, yes: and it would be nice to also face the wall,” the journalist writes on Facebook in connection with the situation surrounding the theft of a memorial plaque from the facade of the house where Boris Nemtsov lived.
“In fact, this is a sign of something much more serious than just their fear of the memory of Boris. It is not just their squeamish aversion to any sign of the free initiative of people, to manifestations of human freedom as such.
This is a clear sign of the panic and confusion that has gripped the Moscow “masters of the city” after the just completed elections. They don’t understand what to do with the attack on their cozy circle, where for so many years it was so convenient to suck from the huge city budget, to divide the city and all its annoying “population”, like their own dacha cooperative.
How to protect yourself from so many “strangers” who are not ready to play by their vile rules? Therefore, they are looking for new support, new instruments of pressure, new weapons. I almost said new allies, but no, in fact, these bandits from the security “communities” have long been their allies and reliable guarantors. But never before have such bold hopes been associated with them, and never before have they been ready to entrust such important and responsible work as now.
This bond between the city administration and obscurantists and aggressors - so close, frank and even demonstrative - is the most important event of today. This is part of the new reality that has emerged in Moscow as a result of recent months: the work of Navalny and his team, the victory of the Gudkov Project and the mass campaign of independent and brave people to become municipal deputies.
This cannot be tolerated. We cannot let this order settle. This is not their city: not a city of bandits and bureaucrats colluding with bandits.”
