The court in Irkutsk refused to satisfy the claim of the organizers of the meeting with Navalny against the mayor's office

In Irkutsk, the court supported representatives of the city mayor’s office in the matter of approving a rally by supporters of politician Alexei Navalny. This was reported by Rosbalt with reference to the coordinator of Navalny’s local election headquarters, Sergei Bespalov.

Supporters of the politician planned to hold a rally-meeting of citizens with Alexei Navalny in Irkutsk, for this purpose inviting the oppositionist to come to the city.

However, the city administration refused to approve the event at five sites proposed by the organizers on different days, proposing to hold a rally at 7 a.m. on September 15 in Komsomolsky Park. Having disagreed with the decision of the mayor's office, the applicants of the action went to court, but their claim was not satisfied.

“We filed claims in court that the mayor’s office, in our opinion, illegally changed the date, time and place of the rallies. The court dismissed our claim,” Sergei Bespalov told the publication.

According to him, the decisions of the mayor's office and the court mean that the planned action has been disrupted. “I won’t lead anyone to a remote part of the city at seven o’clock in the morning,” explained the coordinator of Navalny’s Irkutsk headquarters.
