"Caucasus.Realities": the Dudurkaev family, whose daughter tried to leave for Norway, was released from the police in Chechnya

The police department in the Chechen city of Argun released the Dudurkaev family, whose daughter Louise tried to leave for Norway due to bullying, a law enforcement source told Kavkaz.Realii.

“Department employees spoke with Luiza Dudurkaeva. They asked her why she was going to leave for Norway. They also asked whether she herself wanted to return to Chechnya or whether her father forced her,” the publication’s interlocutor said.

Louise and her mother spent the night at the police station, but the publication, after reporting that they had been released, was unable to talk to the girl or her family: they did not get in touch.

Kavkaz.Realii reported the detention of the Dudurkayevs late in the evening of September 15. Novaya Gazeta correspondent Elena Milashina, who specializes in Chechnya, wrote on Facebook that they were left for “night interrogation.” According to her, this is “a widespread practice, they are carried out with particular bias and the participation of high-ranking Chechen officials, and violence is often used during such interrogations.” Initially, this information appeared on the Novaya Gazeta website, but later, according to Milashina, it was deleted “at the direction of management.”

22-year-old Dudurkaeva was detained on September 4 at the Minsk airport, from where she was planning to fly to Helsinki, and then to Norway, where she was granted asylum. The girl left Chechnya after receiving threats in connection with her publication in the Carthage community, which advocates “for the cleansing of the Vainakh people.” Administrators publish photographs of natives of Chechnya, who, in their opinion, lead an immoral lifestyle.
