230 years ago, on September 17, 1787, the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia adopted the United States Constitution, which is the oldest in the world. It consists of seven articles, to which twenty-seven amendments were adopted during the existence of the Constitution.
The preamble to the American Constitution reads: "We the people of the United States, for the purposes of forming a more perfect Union, establishing justice, securing domestic peace, organizing the common defence, promoting the general welfare, and securing the blessings of liberty for us and our posterity, do ordain and promulgate this Constitution for the United States. America".
