US Ambassador to the UN: If the United States has to defend itself, North Korea will be destroyed

US Permanent Representative to the UN Nikki Haley said North Korea would be destroyed if the United States had to defend itself or protect its allies. “We all get it and none of us want it,” Hayley said.

According to the Permanent Representative, the United States is going to take all diplomatic measures to resolve the conflict over the North Korean nuclear program. “If this doesn’t work, General Mattis will take over,” Hayley promised. General James Mattis is the US Secretary of Defense.

Haley added that the UN has almost exhausted the possibilities for influencing North Korea.

• North Korea has recently conducted a series of missile tests and tested a nuclear weapon in early September. South Korea estimated the power of the detonated charge at 100 kilotons of TNT - five times the power of the American bomb dropped on Nagasaki in 1945. The tests were the sixth in the history of the North Korean nuclear program.
• After the nuclear tests in the DPRK, the UN Security Council adopted another package of sanctions against North Korea. Three days later, North Korea tested a ballistic missile whose flight path passed over Japanese territory.
