70 years ago, on September 18, 1947, in the United States, on the basis of the Office of Strategic Services, which operated during World War II, the Central Intelligence Agency was created, whose task is to collect intelligence information through a network of agents and technical means outside American territory. The first head of the CIA was Rear Admiral Roscoe Hillenkotter, who was fired in 1950 after the agency failed to predict a North Korean invasion of South Korea.
