In Moscow, about an hour ago, Vera Shikhova, the mother of a disabled miner, was detained near the presidential reception building. This was reported to the OVD-Info hotline by Yelena Sidorenkova, a correspondent for the newspaper Rabochaya Demokratiya.
At the time of her arrest, Shikhova was holding a solitary picket in protest against the lack of social guarantees for her son, who was injured while working in a mine. At present, the woman was taken to the Kitai-Gorod police department. There they took away her passport and began to draw up some documents for her.
Vera Shikhova has been traveling to Moscow for five years and holding solo pickets demanding that her son Alexander be given a disability group and social benefits. The son of Vera Shikhova in 2010 was seriously injured at the Ziminka mine in the city of Prokopyevsk, Kemerovo Region, but the company's management refuses to admit that Alexander was injured at work.
