RBC: the remains of Doku Umarov were allegedly found in Ingushetia

“The burial place was indicated by one of the militants who returned from Syria. He was detained for participation in hostilities. The man began to cooperate with the investigation in exchange for a reduced sentence,” the publication’s interlocutor said.

According to him, the remains were wrapped in a raincoat, and the bodies of four more people were found at the burial site. The discovery of the bodies was confirmed to RBC by a source in the central office of the Investigative Committee.

Ren-TV, without indicating the source of information , reports that the remains are planned to be sent to Moscow for an examination, which should accurately establish the identities of the deceased. The TV channel also published photos of the remains. The source of Komsomolskaya Pravda also speaks about the discovery of the body , which states that “a number of signs suggest that one of the remains belongs to Dok Umarov.”

At the same time, Interfax’s source said that it is not yet possible to confirm the data on the discovery of Umarov’s body. “For this we need relevant information, but we don’t have it yet,” he said.

Information about Umarov’s death was published more than 10 times, but in April 2014, a photo of the militant’s supposed corpse was published by Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya. Kadyrov later deleted the recording, but the image remained .

Doku Umarov participated in both Chechen campaigns on the side of the separatists, and in 2006–2007 he was president of the self-proclaimed Republic of Ichkeria, and then announced the creation of the Caucasus Emirate. He took responsibility for organizing the bombing of the Nevsky Express in 2009, explosions in the Moscow metro in 2010 and Domodedovo airport in 2011.
