The press service of the governor of the Ivanovo region denied rumors about his upcoming resignation

The governor of the Ivanovo region Pavel Konkov is not going to leave his post. This was reported to reporters on Monday, September 25, the regional government reported, commenting on rumors about the allegedly preparing series of resignations of the heads of regions, TASS reports.

"Regarding the media published in the media, with reference to information about the possible change in the heads of some regions, we declare the following: the governor of the Ivanovo region Pavel Konkov and the regional government continues to work in planned mode," the press service said.

The regional government noted that this week Konkov will take part in regional measures and federal events in Moscow, including a meeting of the Government Commission for Regional Development, as well as in the State Commission for Combating the Oblode Environmental Products.

Pavel Konkov has been the governor of the Ivanovo region since September 2014. Before him, this post was held by Mikhail Men. In the election of the governor, Konkov won, gaining 80.32% of the votes. In February 2017, the newspaper Vedomosti, citing a source close to the Kremlin, said that in the near future it could be announced about the resignation of five governors. Among the applicants for leaving their seats was called among others and Pavel Konkov. Then the rumors were also immediately refuted .

On Monday, the Kommersant newspaper published an article in which she reported about the start of the series of early resignations of the heads of regions this week. According to the sources of the publication, the change of governors should occur in the Ivanovo, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod, Murmansk, Novosibirsk, Omsk regions, the Nenets Autonomous Okrug (NAO), in the Krasnoyarsk and Altai Territories and in one or two subjects of the North Caucasus.

Prior to this, the press wrote about the supposedly upcoming resignation of the Nizhny Novgorod governor Valery Shantsev , who immediately denied the message. In addition, the departure from the post of Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Viktor Tolokonsky was reported. This information was also refuted by the regional government.

The press secretary of the Governor of the Omsk Region Viktor Nazarova Julia Sokolenko denied information about his possible resignation. The press secretary of the head of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug Igor Koshin Tatyana Baeva also told Kommersant that the governor "works in planned mode." On Monday, the Government of the Altai Territory said that the head of the region Alexander Karlin is working as usual.
