As an additional punishment for a policy, a ban has been imposed for two years to serve the deadline to engage in public activities and perform in the media.
The 60-year-old Umarov was announced guilty of part 2 of Article 280.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (public calls for separatism through the media).
Before the sentencing enters into legal force, the politician remains under the subscription about the lower room.
After the meeting, Umarov told the supporters who came to support him at the court building, which remains a staunch supporter of the return of Crimea under the control of Ukraine. “I consider annexation - annexation, occupation - occupation, and the current government is criminal,” the deputy chairman of the Mejlis emphasized.
“I was waiting for this to some extent,” the QHA reports Umarov at a press conference in Kiev, in which the politician participated in Skype. “But against the background of what the prosecutor requested, it was unexpectedly.”
“I’ll stand it for two years,” assured the deputy chairman of the Mejlis. “They will not wait for me to die in prison.”
Umarov’s protection will appeal the verdict.
Kulishov is a former Ukrainian judge. In continental Ukraine, the case is opened against it under part 1 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the country (state treason), which provides for from 12 to 15 years in the colony. He is put on the wanted list.
In the debate of the parties on September 20, the prosecutor Denis Semenchuk requested for Umarov three and a half years with a conditionally with a three -year test term. The prosecutor also demanded for three years to ban public and teaching to the defendant.
Umarov himself, as before, refused to admit guilt. “I believe that it is necessary to return to the borders of 1991, established during the collapse of the USSR. These borders are recognized in the world and confirmed by the relevant documents between Ukraine and the Russian Federation,” said the deputy chairman of the Mejlis in the debate.
In the last word, Umarov accused Russia of occupation and the annexation of his homeland and stated that the bulk of the Crimean Tatars did not recognize and would not have the seizure of Crimea by Russia. “The Crimean Tatar people are defending the safety of the entire civilized world here,” the politician emphasized. “If the aggression of Russia in relation to Ukraine and Crimea remains unpunished, this will become a precedent, due to which the entire world order will finally collapse.”
Lawyers Emil Kurbedinov, Eden Semedlyaev, Mark Feigin and defender Alexander Podrabinek demanded the justification of Umarov. The speech of the sub -Rabinsk in court.
Hearing on the merits continued on June 7 . The prosecutor in the process changed twice. Initially, the prosecution was supported by the prosecutor Oleg Sarginov. On June 28, he was replaced by Elena Artemenko. Having entered into business, she refused to get acquainted with his materials. "If the prosecutor, entering into business, does not know who was questioned, how such a prosecutor can objectively approach the performance of his duties?" - noted the lawyer Kurbedinov. In turn, Feigin, trying to explain Artemenko’s behavior, did not rule out that "she knows what the sentence will be." Meanwhile, Porobinek noted the perfect illiteracy of an official. On September 6, Artemenko was replaced by Semenchuk.
The reason for the persecution of Umerov was his interview given on March 19, 2016 on the live air of the Crimean Tatar television channel ATR, which, after expelling from Crimea, works in Kiev. According to the FSB, the deputy chairman of the Mejlis "publicly called for the need to violate the territorial integrity of the Russian Federation."
The factory of the case became known on May 12, 2016. The investigation was conducted by the UFSB official for the annexed Crimea and Sevastopol Senior Lieutenant of Justice Igor Skryka. A linguistic study was carried out by the expert of the same headquarters Olga Ivanova, who does not speak the Crimean Tatar language. In the case, three volumes with a volume of about 250 pages each. Umarov is under the subscription about the loss.
The politician did not give testimony at the investigation. During the interrogation in court on September 13, he noticed that two phrases from his speech, which caused the reason to initiate the case, were torn from context and incorrectly translated from the Crimean Tatar language.
Also, Umarov and his protection indicated a lot of falsifications in the case. In particular, there is no Crimean Tatar original speech in materials. At the same time, the Kishweev specialist involved in the protection of the Crimean Tatar language, at least 17 mistakes and inaccuracies in the Russian translation, which is contained in the case. “I completely translated his speech and did not find a single call to violation of the territorial integrity of Russia and calls for extremist actions,” the linguist emphasized. “I think he (translation. - Ed.) Made unskilled.”
The testimony of witnesses of the prosecution in court differed significantly with the data on the investigation.
On August 2, Kulishov refused to introduce to the case a resolution of the UN General Assembly of December 19, 2016 on the situation with human rights in Crimea. This is the first document of the United Nations, in which Russia is called the Coopanta State, and Crimea and Sevastopol - temporarily occupied territories.
“It seemed to me that the judge sincerely does not understand that this is a legal document and that he characterizes that Ilmi Umarov acted in the legal field that the world community recognizes,” Kulishov’s refusal decision commented on. “They are perplexed, as it could be, that the UN issues a certain legal document that should be taken into account, including in Russia.”
