Informant WADA Rodchenkov is arrested in absentia

The Basmann District Court of Moscow in absentia arrested the former director of the Moscow Anti -Doping Laboratory Grigory Rodchenkov, who emigrated to the United States and became an informant of the World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA). This is reported by Interfax.

The decision was made a week ago, September 21.

Rodchenkov was put on the international wanted list under part 2 of article 201 of the Criminal Code (abuse of powers, resulting in grave consequences), which provides for up to 10 years of the colony.

The defense of the emigrant appealed to his absentee arrest.

Rodchenkov resigned in November 2015 against the backdrop of a doping scandal that began, after which he left Russia. In May 2016, The New York Times published an interview with a former official in which he accused dozens of Russian athletes , including 15 gold medalists, and doping. Rodchenkov said that the state doping program operated in the country for many years.

The former official admitted that he compiled three mixtures of the forbidden drugs that he mixed with alcohol and gave athletes. Meanwhile, Russian anti-doping experts and employees of special services replaced the doping tests of the Russian national team at “pure” samples, taken a few months before the Olympic competitions.
