Children's hospice was created in Irkutsk

A children's hospice was created in the Irkutsk region. Patients will begin to be taken in October. This is the first such institution in Siberia.

The Irkutsk hospice is a state healthcare institution that opens to create optimal living conditions for children suffering from serious incurable diseases, as well as assisting members of their families. According to the regional administration, the hospice services will be free.

“The demand for palliative assistance to children is obvious. Patients with severe diseases should receive comprehensive psychosocial and medical care. The medical personnel of the institution were prepared for palliative medical care. Doctors of teachers and secondary medical personnel were trained in Moscow and St. Petersburg, ”comments Oleg Yaroshenko, Minister of Health of the Irkutsk Region.

The institution is designed for 25 beds for patients from 1 year to 18 years. The chambers are equipped with the necessary equipment and furniture. The building also has medical rooms, a psychological unloading cabinet, a recreation hall with playing modules and a dining room for children's children and their relatives.

“We tried to bring the atmosphere as close as possible to the home. All staff will work in color, bright clothes. We would like to provide assistance, including psychological not only to the child, but also to the families in which our patients live and are brought up, ”said Olga Ermakova, head physician of the Irkutsk Regional Hermakova OGBUZ.

More than 7.6 million rubles were provided for the creation of a children's hospice in the region’s budget, of which 3 million rubles were allocated for the purchase of medical equipment and furniture. In particular, the apparatus of artificial ventilation of the lungs, bedside monitors, spirograph, electrocardiographer, ciliates, functional beds, and consumables were purchased.

The Ogbuz "Irkutsk Regional Hospice" will provide stationary and field medical palliative assistance at the house in the cities of Irkutsk, Shelekhov and in the nearby settlements of the Irkutsk region. For this, an exit service has been created in the institution. It includes pediatricians, neurologists, average medical personnel, psychologists and social workers.
