
The shareholders of Rosneft elected ex-Chancellor Germany Gerhard Schroeder by the new chairman of the board of directors of the company. It is reported by RBC.
At a meeting of shareholders, Schroeder said he accepted a new appointment "with great joy and pure heart." “I decided to bring (to Rosneft. - Ed.) The experience that I have accumulated thanks to my work in the political and economic sphere, and I am glad of the atmosphere that reigns in all managing organs of the company,” the ex -official said.
Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin expressed the hope that the arrival of Shreder will open up new prospects in international markets for Rosneft and improve Russian-German relations.
Before Shreder, the board of directors was headed by presidential assistant Andrei Belousov.
Minister of Energy Alexander Novak, excluded from there by decision of shareholders in June, also returned to the Council. The Council has been expanded from 9 to 11 people. At the same time, all the previous members of the Council remained in it: these are Sechin, Belousov, the head of Glencore, Aivan Glazenberg, President of the British Petroleum group (BP) Robert Dudley, President of Qatar Foundation Alsuvidi Faizal, ex-wagon of the Central Bank Oleg Vyuset Director of the Operator "North Stream-2" Matthias Varnig, a former BP top manager Guir Kintero and former Exxon Mobil top manager Donald Humphriz.
On August 29, it became known that the government nominated Schroeder to the post of chairman of the board of directors of Rosneft . This was motivated in the White House by the fact that Schroeder is a global politician who consistently defends strategic Russian -German cooperation in the energy sector, and also has competencies and experience in the largest international and Russian hydrocarbon companies, including as chairman of the board of directors.
Now Schroeder is headed by the Committee of shareholders of Nord Stream AG.
On August 11, the government approved the list of their candidates for the board of directors of Rosneft. In addition to Schroeder, the list includes Varnig, Humphris and Vyugin.
In 2014, during the conflict between the shareholders of the subsidiary "Rosneft" TNK-BP, the intention of Schrief, which was part of the board of directors of the enterprise, was already reported from the company to the Board of Directors of Rosneft. However, then representatives of the politician rejected information about such plans.
