The investigation asks to place VIM-Avia CEO Alexander Kochnev and Ekaterina Panteleeva, chief accountant of the airline, under house arrest, said Yunona Tsareva, spokeswoman for the Basmanny Court.
“The court received a petition from the investigating authorities to elect a measure of restraint in the form of house arrest against the accused Kochnev and Panteleeva,” said Yunona Tsareva
According to her, Kochnev and Panteleeva have not yet been brought to court. They are accused of involvement in the theft of money from passengers of the airline.
Earlier on Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the dispatch of two Tu-124 aircraft belonging to the Rossiya special squad. The first aircraft took off for Antalya at 13:00, and the second at 18:00.
Recall that on September 25, VIM-Avia completely abandoned charter flights due to lack of funds. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, this happened due to the company's debts to airports and fuel suppliers.
After that, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case on fraud on an especially large scale. The investigation believes that the company sold tickets, despite the fact that it had no money for fuel and aircraft maintenance.
