In Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, a girl treated her classmates to tranquilizers; two schoolchildren were hospitalized with poisoning

The Investigative Committee for the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug has begun an investigation into the poisoning of children with phenazepam tablets in the village of Pionersky, Sovetsky District, according to the Investigative Committee’s website.

According to preliminary data, a 12-year-old girl found at home a package of phenazepam, a tranquilizer with anticonvulsant and hypnotic effects. She brought the pills to school, where she ate them herself and gave the medicine to her classmates, telling them that they were vitamins.

As a result, nine schoolchildren took the tranquilizer, two of them were hospitalized with poisoning. After examination by a doctor, the remaining children were sent home under the supervision of their parents.
