October 7–8 - Media -Hhakataton Memo.Data
The international memorial and greenhouse of social technologies invite novice journalists, developers, designers, historians, photographers and other young specialists to take part in two -day media -hacaton on October 7–8, together with the Russian -speaking media: Arzamas , Bigpicture , Rain, Hedgehog, Meduza, Mediason, Secret firms ”,“ New Gazeta ”,“ Such Affairs ”,“ Project 1917 ”.
The circle of topics for a hackathon based on the databases and materials of the international memorial is associated with the centenary of the revolution and the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Terror-the anniversary of the anniversary that has happened to think about what happened to people in our country during the years of Soviet power:
- How did the Soviet repressive system begin?
- How did the history of the country affect the history of the family?
- What features of prison life can be learned from the memoirs of former prisoners?
- When the first monuments to the victims of political repression began to appear?
- Where in different periods do memorial objects appear?
Each media chose the topic of projects that it would like to carry out, allocated one or two curators from among its regular employees and presented a list of vacant positions necessary for the implementation of the project. We invite you to join the teams and think through projects within two days of Hakaton and present their presentation. We will try to attract the necessary experts (including according to your applications) who could give as many useful recommendations as possible (in questions of history, design, programming languages and others) and help in work on projects. They will evaluate the results of the hackathon.
A few more weeks are allocated for the completion of projects and preparing them for publication. Some will be launched on October 29-30 - during the memory of the victims of political repressions, others - by the 7th, anniversary of the Bolshevik coup, the rest - until the end of 2017.

Rudolf Pikhoy is a doctor of historical sciences, professor, chief researcher at the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences, editor -in -chief of the Russian History magazine, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation.
In the center of the meeting is the “Archival Revolution” of the 1990s (in 1990-1996, Rudolf Pikha was the head of the State Archival Service of Russia) and the scientist’s research interests: source studies, historiography, history of public administration, and the socio-political history of Russia in the twentieth century.

Public opinion plays a large role in Russian politics. It is studied by power, including through closed polls of the FOM and is taken into account when making political decisions. Especially great is his role in ensuring the legitimacy of power. The authorities know how to manipulate them well, but any manipulations have their own limits and restrictions.
The international memorial continues the cycle of lectures and discussions according to the current state, problems and prospects for the development of the Russian state and society "in which country we live."

October 25 at 18:30 - opening the exhibition "First"
The exposition is based on portraits and biographies of fifty people - the first victims of Soviet political repression. To restore their fate, photographs, archival documents (investigative materials) and publication of numerous newspapers of the late 1917 were used, which, despite censorship persecution, could publish information about the repressive practices of the new government.
“Our exhibition,” says the curator Boris Beenkin, “about the initially repressive essence of the Soviet state. Everything that will be later: the red terror of the Civil War, the Great Terror of the 1930s, the seventy-year-old censorship oppression and the brutal struggle against dissent, the Bessed reprisals-everything is laid down, programmed in the early days of the Soviet regime. Talking about the Vegetarianism of the Bolsheviks these days is not a based myth on anything. The arrests from the very beginning became a sign of the "post -October" era ".
At the opening, it is planned to first execute a passage from the fourth symphony A.I. Vyshnegradsky (in a shift for the piano in four hands of N. Artsybushev and I. Vyshnegradsky), written in the solitary confinement of the Trubetskoy bastion in December 1917.
The exhibition will be held from October 25, 2017 to January 25, 2018 in the hall of the international memorial.

At the invitation of the International Memorial, the winner of the Alternative Nobel Prize, President of the Human Rights Association, Chad Jacqueline Mudyn, arrives in Moscow.
The lecture will be held in the Great Hall of the All -Russian State Library of Foreign Literature named after M.I. Rudomino (Nikolayamskaya St., 1)
October 29 - "Return of Names"
On October 29, on the eve of the state day of memory of the victims of political repression, from 10 a.m. to 10 pm, replacing each other, from year to year we read the names of people who were executed in Moscow during the years of Soviet terror on Lubyanskaya Square. Name, surname, age, profession, date of execution - thousands of names will sound that day over Lubyanskaya Square. People were shot secretly - we are doing the memory of them public.
Come at any time during the day to Lubyanskaya Square and join the annual memorable action of the international memorial, which will be held at the Solovetsky stone, the oldest monument to millions of victims of the totalitarian regime, or in the immediate vicinity of it.
