The reshuffle in the gubernatorial corps was influenced by the failure of the government candidate in the presidential elections of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The 40-year-old head of the Federal Agency for Scientific Organizations (FANO), Mikhail Kotyukov, whom the media called the main candidate for the post of governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, eventually lost the fight for this post to 62-year-old Alexander Uss. According to NT sources close to the Kremlin, among the reasons for this decision is the election of the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which ended last week.

One of Kotyukov's functions at FASO was organizing the election of the head of the Russian Academy of Sciences. It was planned that he would ensure the election of candidate Vladislav Panchenko, lobbied by the influential Kovalchuk brothers, and after that he would move to the post of governor. However, Panchenko lost the election, and Alexander Sergeev, supported by part of the opposition within the Academy of Sciences, became the President of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Another reason for the refusal of Kotyukov's candidacy, NT interlocutors call the scrapping of the previously conceived scenario for replacing the governor because of the demarche of the former head of the region, Viktor Tolokonsky. He, contrary to informal rules, himself gathered local officials and deputies and announced their resignation, without waiting for the publication of the presidential decree.
