Opposition politician Alexei Navalny was sent under arrest for 20 days - such a decision was made on October 2 by the Simonovsky Court of Moscow. Judge Khyzyr Mussakaev considered that the founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (FBK) was guilty of repeatedly violating the organization of rallies and demonstrations.
“Recognize Navalny guilty of committing an offense under Part 8 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (repeated violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding a meeting, rally, demonstration, procession or picketing) and sentence him to 20 days of administrative arrest, ”the judge announced, quoted by Interfax .
Thus, according to the case file, Navalny repeatedly, through various Internet resources, “urged citizens to participate in an event that was not coordinated with the executive authorities at the address: Nizhny Novgorod, Markin Square, September 29, 2017,” which forms the composition of an administrative offense.
The politician himself does not recognize the accusations against him and claims that the rally of his supporters in Nizhny Novgorod was agreed, although later the city administration withdrew the agreement.
“20 days of arrest. Old man Putin was so frightened by our rallies in the regions that he decided to please himself with a small gift for the anniversary (on October 7, Vladimir Putin will turn 65 years old. - NT ). So calmer, ”Navalny wrote on his Twitter .
Navalny's defense has already announced its intention to appeal the decision of the Simonovskiy Court to the court of appeal.
