The Savelovsky District Court arrested the head of Navalny's election headquarters for 20 days

The head of the federal election headquarters of Alexei Navalny, Leonid Volkov, was arrested for 20 days for repeated violation of the legislation on rallies (Part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code). Mediazona reports this.

Judge Nikitin rejected the defense's motions to move the case to Nizhny Novgorod, to dismiss the case due to an addition to the protocol, and to summon witnesses to court.

Volkov was detained in Nizhny Novgorod on September 29, when he went to the police department to write a statement under Art. 149 (obstructing a rally) due to the fact that the police seized equipment for the rally. A protocol was drawn up against him under Part 8 of Art. 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (repeated violation by a participant of a public event of the procedure for holding it) and wanted to leave him in the police department overnight. However, later police officers took Volkov to the airport and put him on a plane to Moscow, making him oblige to appear in the Simonovsky Court of Moscow on Monday.

Later it became known that the case would be heard in the Savelovsky Court.

The administration of Nizhny Novgorod first agreed on a rally-meeting with Alexei Navalny, and then canceled its decision. Officials informed the applicants that the site was occupied, which means that the planned action would be considered uncoordinated.

At the meeting itself, which did take place, 7 people were detained .

Before the rally, the police detained the coordinator of the local election headquarters and two of his employees. All three were released without protocols, taking explanations.

Today, a court in Nizhny Novgorod arrested two participants in the action on September 29 for 12 and 14 days for disobedience to a police officer (Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code). Alexei Navalny was arrested for 20 days.
