The Savelovsky court of Moscow appointed Leonid Volkov, the chief of staff of the leader of the progress party, Alexei Navalny, a punishment of 20 days of administrative arrest, Interfax reports . Volkova was announced under part 8 of Article 20.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (repeated violation of the procedure for organizing rallies).

“Since I can’t actively participate in the campaign in a special -reception, I have one method of peaceful legal protest - a hunger strike,” Volkov wrote on Twitter. “Let us go, vile, let the campaign normally. Compete with ideas and meetings, rather than ships and arrests.”

On September 29, Navalny’s rally was supposed to be held in Nizhny Novgorod. The action was agreed, but the local authorities banned it at the last moment. In the morning of the same day, Navalny was detained in Moscow when he left the house to go to Nizhny Novgorod.

The scene and equipment on Markin Square were dismantled under the control of security forces. Volkov submitted an application to the police to prevent a public event, but he himself was detained. The coordinator of the Nizhny Novgorod headquarters of Navalny, Anna Petkoglo, and two staff of the headquarters - Evgeny Goligorov and Svetlana Lubin were also detained. They were released from OP-1 without drawing up protocols.

In the evening, Volkov was taken to the airport and released there. Navalny was also released from the police, obliging to come to the court on Monday.

More than five hundred protesters gathered at the site of the torn rally. The city authorities under loud music held the Cultural and Sports Festival "Positive Lower", which became known only the day before. Polyatactivists arranged a round dance, and then a procession in the fenced territory, shouting the slogans "Putin - thief!", "Russia without Putin", "Russia will be free!". Seven participants in the action were detained. On Monday, the court in Nizhny Novgorod sent two participants under the arrest - Stanislav Dmitrievsky and Dmitry Kalinchev. They received 14 and 12 days, respectively, under Article 19.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (disobedience of the police). Another participant in the Nizhny Novgorod campaign Ilya Myskovsky was fined 18 thousand rubles.

On Monday, the judge of the Simonovsky District Court of Moscow Khzyr Musikaev arrested Navalny for 20 days for a call to reach a rally in Nizhny Novgorod according to the same part of Article 20.2.

After the trial, Navalny made a video message in which he called for a protest throughout the country on October 7, on the birthday of Vladimir Putin.

Navalny’s headquarters in various cities apply for pickets. "So that on October 7 we have really a real All -Russian Protest Day #Zanavalny, applications for mass pickets must be submitted today, October 3," the Navalny team said . Activists published a request template and call “everyone who has no headquarters in the city“ submit documents to the local administration.

"Calls for unauthorized measures and rallies, public calls are contrary to current legislation. Of course, those who act with such calls are persecuted by law," said Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov.
