The sausage, which lay in a basket donated to the former Minister of Economic Development of Russia Alexei Ulyukaev by the head of Rosneft, Igor Sechin, was destroyed in May 2017 by the decision of the Basmanny Court. This was requested by the court.
“The sausage was destroyed as perishable,” Ulyukaev’s lawyer Victoria Burkovskaya told the BBC. According to her, the material evidence was destroyed on May 17, 2017, six months after the former minister was detained.
In the basket, in addition to sausages, there were bottles of Krasnodar wine, Burkovskaya said. The fate of the wine and the basket is unknown to her - the defense never saw the basket. An anonymous source familiar with the case file also could not tell what happened to the basket and wine.
Updated: in the original version of the material, a mistake was made in the name of Ulyukaev's lawyer. Meduza apologizes to readers.
