Russia to Canada: watch your back

It’s the birthplace of Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, and Justin Bieber, but even Canada’s generous gifts to the world won’t spare it from Russian retaliation.

On October 3, Russian Ambassador to Canada Kirill Kalinin warned that Moscow will respond to the Canadian government’s looming adoption of a “Magnitsky Law” to freeze accounts and seize assets of foreigners involved in human rights crimes.

A similar law is active in the U.S., where officials last year expanded its applicability beyond Russia to the rest of the world.
