“Memorial”: under the guise of missing Chechens, Moskalkova was shown their brothers

The Human Rights Center Memorial stated that Ombudsman Tatyana Moskalkova, during her trip to Grozny, was arranged to meet with the brothers of the two missing Chechens, and not with the missing themselves.

Moskalkova visited Chechnya after published Novaya Gazeta a list of 27 people who, according to journalists, were killed in Chechnya after being detained by law enforcement agencies. The Ombudsman said that two men from this list, Mokhma Muskieva and Shamkhan Yusupov, were brought to her meeting.

“It was possible to find out that two people from this list are alive. I managed to meet them. They were brought here to Grozny, I checked all the data. These people were brought from home, they were doing household chores, they were, of course, unhappy that they were taken away from their work, but, as they say, the truth is more precious! - Moskalkov quoted the official website of the head and government of Chechnya.

According to Memorial, the Ombudsman met with the brothers of the missing. “One of them was 24-year-old Mansur Yusupov, the other was one of the Mohma brothers, Umar or Abubakar Muskiyev. They really are free. The fate of Shamkhan and Mohma is still unknown to their families,” the human rights center said in a statement.
