The musician Tom Petty died

The rock musician Tom Petty died at the age of 66 as a result of a heart attack. It is reported by Reuters with reference to his manager Tony Dimitriades.

Petty was found unconscious in his house in Malibu and hospitalized at the Medical Center of the University of California at the Ronald Reagan Los Angeles. The doctors failed to save him.

According to the Petty family, he "left peacefully, surrounded by family members, musicians of his group and friends."

Petty began his career in 1976 with the Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers group. Since 1987, he played as part of The Traveling Wilburys, and since 1989 - and solo.
