In Russia, the new and one of the most common methods of fraud was "issuing a loan after the transfer of the initial contribution."
Fraudsters lure funds from citizens who want to get a loan and previously left a loan application in banks. However, due to the leakage of personal data, this information often goes to the side. As a result, unknown people “call people by offering approved applications for loans from credit organizations that do not exist in reality,” said Valery Lyakh, director of the Department of Combating the unscrupulous practices of the Bank of Russia.
Attackers are represented by employees of non -existent banks with difficult to pronounced names, after which they ask their victims to transfer the initial fee to a bank account, card or telephone number for providing a loan, RIA Novosti reports.
“These are direct calls to consumers of financial services. Fraudsters call people (probably, for 45 years in need of not very large loans, in the region up to 100 thousand rubles), offering approved applications for loans from credit organizations that do not in reality,” the representative of the Central Bank said.
Also in the arsenal of scammers there are schemes that are aimed at young people who manage to lure the amount from 1 thousand to 10 thousand rubles. There are also schemes aimed at schoolchildren, said the head of the Department of the Central Bank, without specifying the essence of these schemes, RBC notes.
“Fraudsters do not disdain in anything to earn money. They understand that maybe young people are easier than adult people, although they also think about elderly people,” Lyakh noted.
Recall that at the end of September, the former first deputy chairman of the Central Bank Georgy Luntovsky told how much money scammers steal from bank cards of Russians a year. According to him, their catch in 2016 amounted to 1.08 billion rubles, which is 6% less than a year earlier.
He called several of the most common options for cards fraud.
For example, a message comes to the victim’s phone that the card is blocked, and for unlocking it is proposed to call the indicated number. The victim calls back, and the attackers are presented to the bank’s employees and force them to report information about the card or approach the ATM allegedly for unlocking. As a result, the victim himself transfers money to fraudsters.
Real representatives of the bank never ask the complete data of cards, disposable passwords and pin codes either by phone or in correspondence with their clients .
Another common reception of scammers is the newsletter of electronic letters with viruses in order to make the victim open the attached document or a link that will lead to the loading of the malicious program. There are a huge number of fake sites created by scammers.
Complaints related to the theft of money with cards and the inability to receive compensation are third in frequency, but it is rare to return the money in this case. After all, if the client himself does not transmit information about the card or will not use the device infected with the virus, it is almost impossible to steal his money from the card.
The Central Bank warns: dozens of pseudo -boats work in the Russian Federation, which simply take money from the population
According to the Director of the Department of Combating the unscrupulous practices of the Central Bank, Valery Lyakh on the sidelines of the International Financial Congress, the Bank of Russia has identified and blocked about 20 pseudo -bars - fraudulent sites that are masked for sites of credit organizations.
“Recently, we see a noticeable appearance of pseudo -boats. These are sites that say that they are engaged in banking activities, but in fact they have no licenses, they do not exist, they are simply engaged in phishing, that is, the departure of money from the population under the guise of pseudo -aligned activities,” he said.
According to him, such sites were identified and, on the proposal of the Central Bank, “a couple of dozen dozens of the year” was blocked, TASS reports. Both phishing sites and financial pyramids quite often imitate the activities of microfinance organizations or other participants in the financial market, added Lyach.
On June 28, the Central Bank, together with Yandex, began to mark the sites of legal microfinance organizations in the search results. The legality of such an organization is confirmed by the emerging green checkmark and the inscription "Register of the Bank of Russia". The meaning of the project is that citizens can distinguish “black creditors” who offer services similar to MFIs, from legal organizations that work under the supervision of the Bank of Russia.
