Greenpeace activists put a gas mask on the monument to George the Victorious at the walls of the Kremlin

The action took place as part of the international campaign #Greenperapy, the purpose of which is to make air on the streets of Russian cities clean from emissions.

Greenpeace refers to the data of researchers, according to which air pollution in large Russian cities by 80-90% is associated with urban transport. According to a doctor of medical sciences, professor Boris Revich, only in Moscow, annually fixes from 5,000 to 7000 thousand premature deaths associated with air pollution.

The Greenpeace of Russia offers the authorities of large cities in Russia to create zones in the city, where the entry of non -ecological transport is prohibited, stop buying diesel public transport and develop a progressive transport policy. On the Greenpeace website there is a collection of signatures in support of the campaign #Greenperapy.

In addition, Greenpeace conducts air research in five cities of Russia-Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov-on-Don. The organization plans to publish results in October.
