President Vladimir Putin accepted the resignation of the Governor of the Novosibirsk Region Vladimir Gorodetsky of his own free will. The corresponding decree was published by the Kremlin press service

The temporarily acting governor before the person elected by the head of this region was appointed mayor of Vologda Andrei Travnikov.

On Thursday, Gorodetsky arrived in Moscow "on working issues." After a visit to the presidential administration, the governor filed a resignation, the newspaper Press reported the day before.

Since 2000, Gorodetsky served as mayor of Novosibirsk. On March 18, 2014, Gorodetsky was appointed acting head of the Novosibirsk region after Putin’s resigned Governor Vasily Yurchenko "due to the loss of trust." On September 14, 2014, almost 65 percent of voters voted in the election of the Governor of Gorodetsky.

The 46-year-old travelers held the post of mayor of Vologda since November 2016. In 2014-2016, he was deputy authorized representative of the president in the North-Western Federal District. In 2012-2014, travnikov held the post of first deputy governor of the Vologda region.

Gorodetsky became the eighth head of the region, dismissed since the beginning of last week. Before him, the Samara Governor Nikolai Merkushkin, Valery Shantsev, Vadim Potsky, the head of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug Igor Koshin, Krasnoyarsk governor Vladimir Tolokonsky, the head of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov, Governor of Primorye Vladimir Miklushevsky, lost their posts.
