Alexey Kortnev and Vitaly Mansky shot videos in support of Navalny's admission to the election

Musician Alexei Kortnev, documentary director Vitaliy Mansky, journalist Asya Kazantseva and actress Irina Vilkova recorded video messages in support of political competition and participation in the 2018 presidential election, oppositionist Alexei Navalny. The videos, as well asa similar video message from Andrei Zvyagintsev , are published on the Yetyub-channel "Headquarters of Navalny".

Aleksey Kortnev in his appeal said that he demands “compliance with his civil rights, in particular, rights to free elections”, and “assumptions to the elections of Alexei Navalny and any other candidate who will gain the necessary 300 thousand signatures”.

“If we do not have an alternative candidate, then these elections will turn into profanity, as it was in Soviet times,” he said.

Mansky said , in turn, that he “poorly believes” that “you can simply come to the polling stations and choose another power.” “But when I see young people who go throughout the country <...> in support of Alexei Navalny, I probably still have a weak optimism,” the director said.

Asya Kazantseva, not mentioning Navalny, spoke about the syndrome of learned helplessness and expressed the opinion that the fight against political competition in Russia is aimed at forming such a syndrome among citizens-so that they “cease to be indignant in the country” and “come to terms with the fact that <...> Putin will always be president.”

Oppositionist Alexei Navalny in December 2016 announced plans to run for Russian president in 2018 and began a pre -election campaign. The Central Election Commission stated that because of the criminal record, he could not participate in the elections, but Navalny says that he intends to achieve his registration as a candidate.
In early October, Navalny, under administrative arrest, announced on October 7 shares in support of his participation in the elections and urged supporters to demand his registration.
In a number of cities (including Moscow and St. Petersburg), local authorities refused to agree on shares on October 7. In some regional headquarters, searches were held in support of Navalny, the coordinators were detained.
