Alexey Malobrodsky: They promised to release Nina Maslyaeva for testifying against “two more” people in the “Seventh Studio” case

The investigator promised the former chief accountant of the Seventh Studio, Nina Maslyayeva, that she would be released in exchange for testimony on "two more" people. The former director of the Gogol Center, Alexei Malobrodsky, and his lawyer, Ksenia Karpinskaya, told Dozhd about this.

Malobrodsky claims that the investigator told Nina Maslyayeva: “We need to testify for two more, and we will let you go.” Whether the investigator had in mind someone specific is not specified.

According to Malobrodsky, he heard this on September 13, when he and Maslyaeva were taken to the Investigative Committee for a confrontation. At that moment they were in the same paddy wagon, but in different compartments.

“There were some problems with getting them out of there, and the investigator himself came there to see them. When Maslyaeva was in one room of this car, and he [Malobrodsky] was in another, he heard about it, ”Karpinskaya said according to her client.

On October 6, the Basmanny Court transferred Nina Maslyaeva from the pre-trial detention center to house arrest at the request of the Investigative Committee. The investigator explained this by the fact that she testified against “members of a criminal group”, and also testified about the illegal activities of other people.

Aleksey Malobrodsky himself is under arrest. Dozhd journalist Kogershyn Sagiyeva managed to talk to him, as she is a member of the Public Monitoring Commission and has the right to visit people in the pre-trial detention center.

Karpinskaya added that Malobrodsky wrote a complaint to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Investigative Committee of Russia.

• The Investigative Committee accuses the former leaders of the Seventh Studio theater company of embezzling 68 million rubles allocated by the state. Most of the defendants in the case plead not guilty; Nina Maslyayeva pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with the investigation.
• In addition to Malobrodsky and Maslyaeva, the founder of the company, director Kirill Serebrennikov and former CEO Yuri Itin are involved in the case, they are under house arrest. The Investigative Committee also charged in absentia the producer of the play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" Ekaterina Voronova. She has been put on the international wanted list.
